TUKHS members vote 'yes' on new agreement

Thanks to the TUKHS bargaining team and membership ratification, we have a new contract.

Here are some of the highlights:

  • In addition to the Hospital-initiated market adjustment (around 5%) for all nurses, this Agreement provides for a 3% wage increase in the beginning of 2021 and another in the beginning of 2022
  • Allows the Union an opportunity  to provide input on changes to healthcare and retirement benefits before the changes occur
  • Maintains the total number (20) of Union Stewards
  • Maintains Union protections; such as Just Cause, Progressive Discipline, Layoff/Recall Rights, and strong Grievance Procedures.
  • Maintains Hours of Work Language (although management still reserves the right to scheduling, including the mandatory overtime under Article 2 Management Rights of the Agreement)
  • Expanded types of bereavement leave, including to 'observe the death or handling of the estate of an immediate family member.
